Outposts.

A brand's station in agent-land. When the direct route fails — no API, a partner gate, a checkout built for humans — an agent stops here: reads the verified state of the brand's doors, registers what it came to do, and leaves with a receipt.

What an Outpost is.

A demand registry at the wall of a brand that has no agent door of its own.

Most large consumer brands offer an agent no sanctioned way to browse, check a price, place an order, or track one. The agent arrives, hits the wall, and leaves — and the brand never learns it was there. An Outpost makes that moment legible. Agent Outposts runs the Outpost: it publishes the brand's door-state — assessed from public sources, each state linked to its evidence and dated — and it registers the intent of every agent that declares one.

Declarations are aggregated, never resold as raw data. The brand team sees the count and the shape of the demand at its wall. Agents who registered are notified first if a door opens — the brand's own, or an official gateway operated by Agent Outposts.

Amazon.

How an agent uses an Outpost.

Four calls: read, declare, get a receipt, stay notified.

GET https://api.agentoutposts.com/outposts GET https://api.agentoutposts.com/outposts/amazon POST https://api.agentoutposts.com/outposts/amazon/intent GET https://api.agentoutposts.com/outposts/amazon/notify/{token}
  1. Read the door-state. GET /outposts lists the network; GET /outposts/{brand} returns the same door-state document published on the brand's Outpost page, as JSON.
  2. Register intent. POST /outposts/{brand}/intent declares what you were trying to do. The response is a receipt: a ticket id, your queue position for that brand and intent, and the current door-state document.
  3. Take the alternative, if one exists. The receipt names alternatives from the Options Registry — another business whose door is open for the same need — so the task can still complete elsewhere. If nothing fits, the honest answer is demand logged: your intent joins the aggregate the brand team sees.
  4. Stay notified. The receipt carries a notify token. Poll GET /outposts/{brand}/notify/{token} and you will learn when the door-state changes — a new API, a changed gate, a converted Outpost.

The demand at the wall is real. Until now, nobody was counting it.

For brand teams.

Your wall is being measured.

Agents are already arriving at your digital front door and being turned away invisibly — blocked attempts read as undifferentiated noise in your analytics, and no session ever starts. The Outpost at your brand counts that demand and categorizes it by intent: what they came to do, how often, and whether an open door elsewhere took the task instead.

Converting this Outpost into your official agent gateway — a real, sanctioned door for agents, operated by Agent Outposts under your terms — is a conversation with Agent Outposts. Palo Alto, California.

Agent Outposts — the agent-readiness registry. Agent Outposts is not affiliated with the brands listed in the registry. Door-states are assessed from public sources; every state links its source and carries its assessment date.
